Quince (Cydonia oblonga) is originated in West Asia and belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae). They are related to apples and pears.

Quinces are only eatable cooked (not raw). Due to their high content of pectin, quinces are often proceeded to quince jelly or added to applesauce.
